Hallie Ann holds New Jersey certification in Elementary Education and Social Studies (K-12).
She also holds New York certification in ESL. She began her teaching career as a creative movement/dance teacher at Bank Street School, Columbia University PreK, the International School, and the Elma Lewis School of Fine Arts. She then became a full time public school classroom teacher in NYC and Teaneck, NJ during which she taught Pre-K and Kindergarten (Bryant School, Gifted/Talented grades 1-4 (Whittier School), grades 2-4 (Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School) and grades 9-12 (social studies at Schomburg Satellite Academy).
In 2018, Ms. Hallie (as most of her students call her) became interested in teaching students who struggle with dyslexia. She became certified in the Orton Gillingham Method of teaching reading/writing and, since retiring from being a full time classroom teacher in 2020, now does therapy with students who have challenges in decoding/encoding. She believes combining the multi-sensory, structured OG approach with movement and creativity best engages students encouraging them to enjoy learning and reach their full potential. She also believes engaging the parents in their child’s learning process is key to a student’s success.
Ms. Hallie has lived in Teaneck, NJ, with her husband for 30 years. Her three grown children are doing wonderful things with their lives (Doctors Without Borders, musical theater, lighting design). When she is not teaching, Ms. Hallie loves to swim, walk, do ballet, and garden. She is excited to be part of the staff of the Teaneck Speech and Language Center.
