Lea is a veteran teacher with 15 years of experience at all levels (elementary through college), and in different environments including traditional classrooms, learning center settings, one-on-one tutoring, and online platforms. She has taught in both public and private schools in the humanities, and she is currently pursuing a Doctorate in English at Stony Brook University. Lea’s approach focuses on the whole student, specifically on building writing confidence and in engaging in the writing process in a way that engages students both intellectually and emotionally. She has presented her research on strategies for helping apprehensive writers at various writing conferences and festivals in the greater New York area, and she continues to pursue this line of practice through professional development offered at institutions like The Windward School, NCTE, and Brandman University.
